Hämeenlinna Huskies american football club was founded in 2011.

Currently the club has mens and womens senior teams that are participating in tackle football. Womens team is playing in Finnish top league and mens team is playing in Finnish 1-division (which is Europe: 2nd Division).

Club has youth tackle football programs in U17, U15 and U13 -juniors

Hämeenlinna Huskies Cheerleaders was founded in 2014. Cheerleading teams are participating in cheerleading competitions as well as performing in senior teams football games.

ORGANIZATION

Like the majority of Finnish sports clubs, the Huskies is legally not a business but a registered association. It may not and can not make profit for shareholders.

Associations are subject to specific laws and they conform to certain democratic principles. The current government includes

In addition to those, the club has a number of support staff for maintenance, youth programs, concessions, cheerleading, and general assistance in all matters of Hämeenlinna Huskies. The great majority of the work is done on a volunteer basis; the profits are used to cover expenses, to develop the teams, and to promote the sports of american football and cheerleading.

The club is a member of a national governing body called the American Football Association of Finland  and Finnish Cheerleading Federation (abbreviated SAJL and SCL due to its Finnish-language name)

There are currently 39 american football clubs and 51 cheerleading clubs in Finland.

SEASON 2016

Mens football team

The season consists 8 regular season games, (4 home and 4 away games) the playoff games, and the final called Spaghetti Bowl. There will be 5 teams in the league in the 2016 season. The team travels to away games by bus and the longest trip to away game is 350 kilometers from Hämeenlinna.

The Huskies’ home field is called the Kauriala Field (Kauriala olympic stadium (1952 games)) and it’s situated in a beautiful place in the city center. The kickoff time at home games is usually 4 pm for Saturdays. The field is natural grass

The team practices two a week in the off-season and three times a week during the season. In the off-season (wintertime) practices are held in indoor sports facilities. In the season team has an outdoor practice fields close to the home field.

Womens football team

The season consists 8 regular season games, (4 home and 4 away games) the playoff games, and the final Bowl game yet to be named. There will be 8 teams in the league in the 2016 season.
